The 1×4 Diamond Resin Sharpening Stone for the KME Sharpener come in 15 Micron, 9 Micron, 6 Micron, 3 Micron and 1 Micron, which are equivalent to 1K, 2K, 3K, 6K, and 15K grits, respectively. These stones work on all steel types and even ceramic knives. Designed to be used as part of an all-diamond lineup, the Jende diamond resin stones are designed to do cleanup and refinement after the stock or the Atoma 1×4 diamond plates and continue to a mirror polish. The Jende 1×4 diamond resin stone / Resin stone for KME is splash and go and meant to be used with water. Let this stone air dry between use. Size is 1″ x 4″ x 5mm in size, and consists of a 3mm thick stone mounted to a 2mm thick aluminum blank. Even though the 1×4 size is meant for use with the KME Sharpener and with the Wicked Edge Uni Stone Holder Paddles. it is also a great size for a slip stone, field stone or a pocket stone for knife sharpening on the go, or to remove unwanted burrs. 15 Micron (~1000 grit) is an excellent cleanup stone to remove deeper scratches left by coarser plates and stones. It can also be used for routine maintenance and sharpening. This stone leaves a very good working sharp edge. 9 Micron (~2,000 grit) further refines the edges from the 15 micron diamond resin stone, and can be used for light repair and general maintenance sharpening. It leaves an even better quality work sharp edge. The 9 micron diamond resin stone also begins to polish, and sets things up for further refinement sharpening and polishing. 6 Micron (~3,000 grit) really begins to refine and polish the edge leaving a high level of sharpness and with some very good shine. The 6 micron diamond resin stone is best for maintenance sharpening and preparation for full out mirrors and further refinement. 3 Micron (~6,000 grit) is a keystone slicing edges and mirror polishing. It is an excellent touching up stone, and really sets the edge up for further refinement through finer grit stone, stropping or Jende diamond films. Hacks and Tips: Use a moderate amount of water when sharpening with this stone to avoid the black swarf buildup. A cleaner surface will cut faster than one with a lot of swarf. Lap this stone ONLY with a Jende 2-Sided Glass Lapping Plate and Silicon Carbide powders. Lapping diamonds to diamond only wears the diamonds down, and doesn’t revitalize the resin stones.
