1×4 KME Sharpening Stones – For KME Sharpener

$13.5 $26.19
1×4 KME Sharpening Stones bring a wide range of water stones with individual qualities together under one name. If you’re looking for a special flavor or something different to spice up your stone lineup, these are the stones for you. Each stone is 1×4″x 6mm thick and fits into a standard KME stone holder. All Jende stones are used with water only, and we recommend a short dip in water before use. Keep the viscosity of the stone alive with drops as water as needed. A stone washed clean will abrade faster than one with a paste. Pastes will squeeze out a finish that is slightly finer than the advertised grit. The Jende 80 is a SUPER aggressive stone, and rivals, if not surpasses the speed of equivalent diamond grits. It is an economical alternative to more expensive diamond plates great for repair and profile work. Note that the large grit particles tend to leave “whisps” or “ghost scratches” that occasionally extend slightly higher than the main bevel line. This is the stone for no-nonsense git-er done heavy lifting, and not ideal for aesthetic sharpening. The Jende 80 and Grit stones come mounted to a 2mm thick piece of aluminum to allow for max life potential (making a 7-8mm thick stone). The Jende 80 Grit sharpening stone is a mid range extra coarse grit sharpening stone that works on almost all types of knives, scissors, tools and chisels, including those made with abrasion resistant steels. While the 1×4 size is meant for use with the KME Sharpener, it is also a great size for a slip stone, field stone or a pocket stone for knife repairs and sharpening on the go, or to remove unwanted burrs. On More Traditional Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel Edges the Jende 80 Grit works on steels between RC 52 and RC 65 on the Rockwell C Hardness scale. The stone itself is very aggressive and releases a lot of grit for extra punch. It does make very fast work of seriously reprofiling and repairing of the softer end of the spectrum of steels like X50CrMoV15, AUS6, 440B, and most steels used by many kitchen knife makers like Henckels, Wüsthof, Gunter Wilhelm, F Dick, Victorinox, etc. The Jende 120 is VERY aggressive and rivals equivalent diamond grits. It is an economical alternative to more expensive diamond plates great for repair and profile work and excels at cleaning up and transitioning from rougher diamond scratches or belt grinder scratches to water stones. Note that the large grit particles tend to leave “whisps” or “ghost scratches” that occasionally extend slightly higher than the main bevel line. This is the stone for no-nonsense git-er done heavy lifting, and not ideal for aesthetic sharpening. The Jende 120 Grit stones come mounted to a 2mm thick piece of aluminum to allow for max life potential (making a 7-8mm thick stone). This a mid range extra coarse grit sharpening stone that works on almost all types of knives, scissors, tools and chisels, including those made with abrasion resistant steels. The Jende 320 Platinum is an excellent clean up stone when transitioning from diamonds and coarser grit stones while still being a suitable workhorse stone for normal repairs and profiling work. It The Jende 80 and 120 Grit stones come mounted to a 2mm thick piece of aluminum to allow for max life potential (making a 7-8mm thick stone), the others are standard without mounting. The Jende 1K Gray stone acts very much like a Japanese natural stone, and is an ideal maintenance 1K stone that leaves a very respectable work-sharp edge. This stone works best when following a lower grit Waterstone. The Jende 1K Grey sharpening stone is a mid-range sharpening stone that works on almost all types of knives, scissors, tools and chisels, including those made with abrasion resistant steels. While the 1×4 size is meant for use with the KME Sharpener, it is also a great size for a slip stone, field stone or a pocket stone for knife repairs and sharpening on the go, or to remove unwanted burrs. On More Traditional Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel Edges Jende 1K Gray works on steels between RC 52 and RC 65 on the Rockwell C Hardness scale. The stone will generate a muddy paste that leaves a flat gray matte finish on the softer end of the spectrum of steels like X50CrMoV15, AUS6, 440B, and most steels used by many kitchen knife makers like Henckels, Wüsthof, Gunter Wilhelm, F Dick, Victorinox, etc. The Jende 4K “French’s” is a mustard color stone that establishes a near mirror finish with an edge that slices with some tooth. Excellent for a finishing grit or for a stepping stone grit to higher polishing grits.
